MoranAssistant Superintendent of Human ResourcesSUBJECT: Safety and Security Specialist - High School and Rising 9th Summer School 2026Safety and Security Specialists are needed to work AT Brockton High School for the Academic Summer Programs - High and Rising 9th Summer School. Positions are contingent upon funding and adequate student enrollment.The program will run from July 1st through July 31st.All Safety and Security positions will begin 30 minutes before the start of the program and end 30 minutes after the program closure.The programs and job related work hours are as followSummer School 7:00 - 12:00There will be a required paid training session for these positions on a date to be determined prior to the start of the program.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum High School graduate with prior experience working with teenage behaviors, dysregulated students, and at-risk behaviors preferred.Must be physically capable of performing duties.Sitting/Standing and walking for long periods of time, reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, walking several hours per day in hallways and outside. Must be able to work in outside seasonal temperatures.Must be honest, sincere, and conscientious in his/her relationship with school personnel, students, community members, Director of Safety and Security, School Resource Officers and in accomplishing his/her work.Ability to effectively communicate with adolescents and young adults.Bi-lingual in either Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole preferred.Displays strong, positive communication and interaction skills both oral and written when dealing with the public, students and staff.Displays ethical and professional behavior in communicating and working with staff, students and community members.Prior experience working in the summer academic enrichment/remediation program is preferredMust commit to work the entire length of the program and attend training.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Communicate directions to unauthorized persons to leave the premises if they have no legitimate reason to be on school property and report to supervisor and/or School Police immediately.Report any discipline infractions of school rules, unauthorized visitors, and acts of vandalism to the supervisors.Deter students from loitering in the hallways to ensure a smooth traffic flow.Check assigned area of the building (inside and outside at the beginning, throughout and end of each day) and school grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and other unlawful acts.Monitor students and visitors in and out of restricted areas including entry doors, bathrooms, stairwells, hallways, and common areas.Monitor bathroom access to ensure appropriate use according to high school and middle school Summer School policiesProfessional operation of two-way radio devices with other security specialists, school resource officers and program supervisors.Assist with the administration of cell phone control measures, such as Yondr bags.Observe student behavior in order to prevent any altercations or disorder.Render assistance within the school building as necessary.Supervise student activity on school grounds and as scheduled by program supervisors in the building and protect school property.Compensation: $27.00/hourFunding source: Local
