Position Overview This role is for an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) at an advanced clinical level, providing compassionate, patient-centered care within a dynamic healthcare environment. The position demands specialized certifications and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities Perform thorough patient assessments to develop tailored care plans. Administer medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses and intervening as necessary. Coordinate care delivery with healthcare professionals to maintain safety and efficiency. Advocate for patients, upholding dignity and confidentiality with empathy. Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes. Promote evidence-based practices in medical-surgical nursing. Safety and Compliance Maintain a clean, safe environment adhering to infection control and institutional policies. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Proactively identify and report safety concerns. Documentation Accurately document patient care and interventions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards. Professional Development and Leadership Mentor and precept new nurses and students, fostering professional growth. Engage in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives. Serve as a resource for best practices within the medical-surgical unit. Provide relief charge nurse duties as needed. Emergency Preparedness Respond promptly and effectively to patient emergencies, including Rapid Response Team situations. Qualifications Experience Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in a medical-surgical or equivalent setting. Proven ability to manage diverse patient caseloads with common medical and surgical conditions. Experience working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments requiring quick decision-making and teamwork. Oncology experience with chemotherapy administration is required for oncology-focused roles. Competencies Proficiency with medical equipment such as IV pumps and monitors, and medication administration. Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years of relevant experience may be considered. Licenses and Certifications Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable state. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required for oncology roles. Orthopedic Nurses Certification (ONC) or Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (CMSRN) preferred depending on unit specialization. All candidates must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
