We offer benefits as well as 401k.Position DetailsTitle: Payroll SpecialistPosition Type: 6 month contract assignment with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business needJob Location: Wilmington, DEShift: 1st ShiftBenefits: 401K, Dental insurance, Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Vision Insurance, PTOCompensation: $35/HRResponsibilitiesAdminister the end-to-end payroll process while ensuring high payroll accuracy rates.Ensure compliance for exempt and non-exempt employee populations (union and non-union), including garnishments and bonus/severance coordination, payouts, and tracking.Assist with the resolution of payroll errors and system issues by analyzing payroll data, researching discrepancies, and implementing solutions.Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new payroll processes.Oversee the maintenance of payroll files in accordance with company policy and legal requirements; coordinate responses to external information requests as needed.Assist in establishing payroll procedures and guidelines and help troubleshoot payroll-related issues.Conduct periodic reviews and audits of payroll processes to ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with functional areas such as Finance, Compensation, and Benefits, and serve as a resource for payroll-related inquiries.Support the Payroll Manager with various audits, including SOX controls.Review Stock Options, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Dividend Equivalent Units (DEUs) as needed.Participate in payroll system upgrade testing.Review payroll audit reports for accuracy and completeness.Participate in all payroll year-end activities.Improve efficiency in payroll processes by streamlining workflows, reducing manual entries, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.Collaborate with external providers and internal stakeholders to support payroll process enhancements.Participate in cross-functional projects as a payroll subject matter expert.Manage garnishments with an external vendor, including:Uploading garnishments to the vendor systemManaging and auditing vendor-entered garnishment processingProcessing garnishment refundsResponding to garnishment inquiries from vendors and employeesProcessing lump sum garnishmentsCompleting verification of earnings requestsAssist with the payroll tax process through an external vendor (U.S. only).QualificationsPerforms clerical and administrative activities related to the human resources and payroll functions.Maintains and processes confidential employee information, forms, and records.Responds to payroll inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders.Reviews personnel-related documents for accuracy and completeness.Maintains confidential payroll and personnel files and prepares periodic standardized reports.Ensures payroll transactions comply with company policies and applicable local laws.Evaluates payroll systems and recommends operational efficiency improvements.Updates payroll documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as needed.Prepares payroll expenditure reports, including net pay, tax payments, and other payroll disbursements.Trains new team members on payroll systems and procedures.
