This role is designed for professionals who are passionate about building meaningful client relationships while delivering high-quality tax compliance, planning, and strategic advisory services.The Tax Manager partners closely with business owners, executives, and high-net-worth individuals to help them navigate complex tax environments, make confident financial decisions, and achieve long-term success. This position combines technical excellence with a boutique, relationship-driven service approach focused on understanding each client’s unique goals and challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesClient Advisory & LeadershipServe as a primary advisor and day-to-day relationship lead for assigned clients Develop a deep understanding of client businesses, industries, and strategic priorities Provide forward-looking tax guidance that supports growth, risk management, and financial performance Translate technical tax matters into practical, actionable business insights Participate in client meetings to discuss tax strategies, planning opportunities, and emerging issues Support clients through critical business events such as expansions, restructurings, and ownership transitions Deliver a boutique client experience characterized by responsiveness, professionalism, and personalized service Tax Compliance & Technical ExcellenceReview complex federal and multi-state tax returns for partnerships, corporations, individuals, and other entities Ensure timely and accurate delivery of compliance services aligned with firm quality standards Conduct research on tax regulations and resolve technical issues impacting client engagements Respond to client inquiries, tax notices, and audit matters with confidence and professionalism Identify tax planning opportunities that create measurable value for clients Engagement & Practice ManagementManage multiple engagements simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to quality and deadlines Collaborate with partners and senior leadership on engagement strategy and client service delivery Monitor project budgets, timelines, and realization targets Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and client experience Leadership & Team DevelopmentSupervise, mentor, and develop tax seniors and staff Provide timely coaching, performance feedback, and technical guidance Support onboarding and training initiatives that strengthen team capability Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that reflects the firm’s values Firm Growth & Business DevelopmentIdentify opportunities to expand client relationships and introduce additional firm services Participate in networking, proposal development, and thought leadership initiatives Contribute to strengthening the firm’s reputation as a trusted advisory partner in the Denver marketQualificationsRequiredActive Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field Minimum 5–8 years of progressive public accounting tax experience Demonstrated experience reviewing complex business and individual tax returns Strong understanding of federal and multi-state taxation Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and client relationships PreferredMaster’s degree in taxation or accounting Experience advising closely held businesses or high-net-worth individuals Prior leadership or supervisory experience Familiarity with tax technology platforms such as CCH, Canopy, or similarCore CompetenciesClient-Centered Advisory Mindset Technical Tax Expertise Strategic Thinking and Business Acumen Relationship Building and Communication Leadership and Talent Development Project Management and Accountability Professional Judgment and Integrity Why Join The Ricks GroupWe are more than a workplace—we are a collaborative, boutique firm where work is meaningful, engaging, and impactful.
