Governmental Consulting Accountant - Associate

We are seeking an Associate to join the Abdo Governmental Financial Solutions team. If you have a passion for serving local governments while furthering your accounting experience, this role is for you! As an Associate, you will manage multiple local government client engagements, providing specialized financial, accounting, and consulting services. You will play a part in various consulting projects to help clients address financial, operational, and regulatory challenges, and improve their financial efficiency.Our services include fractional CFO and staffing, long-term planning, budgeting/forecasting, audit preparation, process improvement, research/policy drafting, and software implementation. We carefully seek out the best people and trust them to make a difference in helping our clients navigate forward with confidence.Our culture is built on the following principles:Relationships - We give our best to our clients and to each other.Growth & Development - We get better every day.Teamwork - We accomplish great things together.Key responsibilities include:Process accounts receivable and accounts payable for clientsReconcile client cash and investment accounts and perform month-end proceduresDraft financial reports and conduct financial analysisAssist in the budget processPreparation of work papers and journal adjustmentsPerform analytical and detailed work with numerical data efficiently and accuratelyUtilize and develop a functional understanding of firm software and internal work flow/procedures to manage binder documentation and maintain client informationExercise discretion and judgment when working with confidential client mattersIdeal Associate candidate has:Bachelor's degree in AccountingCPA, or currently pursuing CPA, or plans to pursue CPA certificationExperience processing AP, AR, and performing cash and investment reconciliationsExperience with Sage Intacct and QuickBooks (QBO) preferredExperience in a government environment preferredExperience with grant funding preferredDesire to work in a fast-paced environmentAttracting, developing, and retaining the best employees are our highest priorities at Abdo. The estimated base pay range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000. Offers are typically made below the maximum to allow room for future compensation increases in the role. The compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications, skills, and business needs.All employees have the opportunity to earn discretionary bonuses based on demonstration of extraordinary performance, special projects or significant importance, or other major accomplishments.Abdo cares about the wellbeing of our team members and offers a comprehensive benefits package to support this.
