Physician Ophthalmology - Competitive Salary
Job DescriptionOphthalmologist (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Ophthalmologist provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for diseases and disorders of the eye and visual system. This role includes the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of ocular conditions, preventive eye care, and performance of ophthalmic procedures and surgeries, delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage patients with a wide range of ocular and visual disordersDiagnose and treat conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, refractive errors, and ocular infectionsPerform ophthalmic surgical procedures consistent with training and privilegesProvide medical management and follow-up care for acute and chronic eye conditionsPerform and interpret ophthalmic diagnostic testing and imagingCollaborate with optometrists, primary care providers, and medical specialistsEducate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive eye careMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and collaborate with residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited ophthalmology residency programFellowship training in an ophthalmic subspecialty preferred but not requiredBoard-eligible or board-certified in OphthalmologyAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesExpertise in medical and surgical ophthalmologyStrong diagnostic and procedural skillsExcellent communication and patient counseling abilitiesAbility to manage complex and chronic ocular conditionsCommitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered careWork EnvironmentOutpatient ophthalmology clinics, surgical centers, and hospital settingsCall coverage as determined by practice or service needsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit and stand for extended periodsManual dexterity for ophthalmic examinations and surgical proceduresVisual acuity sufficient for detailed ocular examination and microsurgeryRequirementsMust maintain state certification and/or licensure.
