Equipment Technician, Plasma Processes - Tempe, AZ

The OpportunityOur company is looking for a skilled and highly motivated Equipment Technician - Plasma Processes to support our advanced thin-film lithium niobate wafer fabrication operations.In this role, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing excellence—ensuring the performance, reliability, and uptime of critical plasma etch and deposition tools. You will collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams in a cutting-edge cleanroom environment, playing a key role in enabling innovation at scale.What You'll DoMaintain & Optimize Equipment PerformanceExecute preventive maintenance and calibrations on plasma systems (PECVD, ICP, RIE, IBE)Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, vacuum, and RF system issuesPerform equipment startup, qualification, and recovery with strong focus on safety and process integrityRespond rapidly to tool alarms and system failures, minimizing downtime and maximizing throughputCollaborate & InnovatePartner with equipment and process engineers on experiments, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiativesSupport robotic wafer handling systems, including alignment, calibration, and troubleshootingContribute to process stability and yield improvement effortsDrive Operational ExcellenceMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, and parts usageManage spare parts and coordinate with vendors for field service supportDevelop and refine standard operating procedures and troubleshooting documentationEnsure strict compliance with EHS, cleanroom, and safety protocols, including handling hazardous systemsWhat You BringEducation: Associate's degree or technical diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)Experience: 3+ years in semiconductor, photonics, or precision manufacturing environmentsStrong troubleshooting expertise across electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and robotic systemsHands-on experience with plasma processing tools (PECVD, ICP, RIE, IBE, or similar)Solid understanding of RF systems, vacuum technologies, gas delivery, and motion controlAbility to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance documentationProficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and leak detectorsExcellent teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced production environment
