Clay is home to roughly 1,400 students, with 350 amazing students participating in the band program through grades 6-8. The performing arts program is wonderfully supported by district and school administration, as well as by our families. The Carmel bands are a nationally recognized program, with multiple performances at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, and the Indiana Music Educators Conference. The Marching Greyhounds have been named Bands of America Grand National Champions and Indiana State Champions six times. Wind Symphony 1 has been named Indiana State Concert Band Champion nine times, including the last six years. Carmel High School is a two-time recipient of the Sudler Shield and has received the NBA Program of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award. Clay Middle School proudly performed at the 2015 Music for All National Concert Band Festival. The Clay band program consists of four bands that meet during the school day, including Beginning Band (6th grade), Concert Band (7th grade), Symphonic Band (7th/8th grade), and Wind Ensemble (8th grade). The middle schools in Carmel operate on a 90-minute block schedule, which means we see our students every other day by grade level. Extracurricular activities include a Pep Band and optional jazz band, woodwind, and brass choirs. Students can also participate in Solo and Ensemble. Each middle school has two full-time band directors and a middle school percussion specialist who travels between all three middle schools. All classes are co-taught.We are seeking a creative, passionate, and student-centered team-player with a commitment to student experience and musical excellence to join our wonderful team. Candidates in any of the specialty areas (woodwind, brass, or percussion) may apply, no specific specialty is preferred.
