About Buildout Buildout is the AI deal engine for CRE brokerages, automating every step from first contact to commission. We create exceptional, easy to use, high quality products that lead the Commercial Real Estate industry into the future and delight our customers. To achieve this, our software teams work closely with their product team members to build backend (Rails) and frontend (React) features. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Enterprise team and help us scale not just our codebase, but our engineering organization. Consistently and quickly build and launch excellent software by:Understanding our customers and their needsIterating on and polishing your work to meet the standards for Buildout QualityMake sound technical and architectural decisions that balance customer urgency with long-term maintainability and system healthCollaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Product, UX, and Customer-facing teams, to translate enterprise needs into scalable solutionsContribute to a strong engineering culture through leading by example, thoughtful code reviews, pairing on difficult issues to share knowledge and drive accountability, and mentorship of junior and mid-level engineersHelp establish and reinforce standards for code quality, testing, and technical decision-making across enterprise work5+ years of product software development experience, ideally within SaaS or enterprise environments~ Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and React, though this role leans backend~ Demonstrated ability to own complex, ambiguous problems end-to-end and deliver high-quality solutions~ Bonus points:~ Experience using Claude Code (or similar AI-assisted development tools) to accelerate development workflows~ Experience working on enterprise or contract-driven work where requirements are not always fully definedWe are looking for a full-stack engineer. However, "full-stack" can be interpreted many different ways, so here is what we're looking for specifically:Ruby/Rails: We're a Ruby shop, so a deep knowledge of Rails is going to help you get up and running quickly. Our app uses all of the standard Rails goodness you know and love, as well as a lot of additional tools for design, business logic, and background jobs. Javascript: Our front-end relies heavily on Javascript. We currently have a mix of core features written using vanilla ES5 and React, but are focusing on Typescript and React for all future front-end work. We are looking for people with a strong working Javascript base who want to keep finding and working with the best new tools.Testing: Is testing a natural part of your process? We are actively building out our test suite and providing ample team resources to make sure that everything we create is tested and rock-solid. Our test suite uses RSpec for our Rails work, and we're beginning to focus on better end to end testing with Playwright.Other Web Tech: We use git for source control, an internally developed design system based on Bootstrap, MySQL and AWS.
