If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.Vast is looking for a Manager, Additive & Material Processes, reporting to the VP, Manufacturing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.Responsibilities:Motivates and leads a high-performance team while providing technical mentorship and direction to grow the team's skills and capabilities to align with business needsManage and direct the additive manufacturing team to:Additive Materials and Process Development & Qualification to meet AS9100D and NASA specsAdditive Hardware Prototyping and Process DevelopmentBring in Generative Design and Design for Additive CapabilitiesManage the Additive Supply Chain and ConsumablesManage Internal & External Research Projects and ProposalsWork closely with the engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure that customer orders are produced on-time, efficiently and cost-effectivelyTo achieve success, the candidate will leverage their business knowledge and technical domain experience in manufacturing and additive technologies to promote innovation while balancing risk and investment prioritiesYou will leverage your excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as you will be responsible for communicating progress across our multifaceted team to adjacent stakeholders and executivesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline4+ years of experience in Metal Additive2+ years of experience in propulsions design or development of metallic additive technologiesDeep knowledge of metal additive manufacturing technologyExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand process constraints and provide design inputs for improved manufacturabilityPreferred Skills & Experience:Master's degree in manufacturing engineering4+ years of experience operating additive machines, including process control and verificationsKnowledge of NASA 6030 specKnowledge of AS9100D qualification processesKnowledge of various additive and subtractive manufacturing and joining techniques for metalsExperience managing small to midsize teams of technicians and engineersAbility to perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentalsExperience with NX, SOLIDWORKSExcellent communication skills and ability to succinctly present recommendationsPassion for advancing additive manufacturing technologyAble to work well in an integrated collaborative team environmentHighly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentPay Range: California$143,000—$203,000 USDCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSBase salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
