Summary DescriptionUnder the direction of the Director of Inclusive and Specialized Learning Supports, the Supervisor of Inclusive and Specialized Learning Supports provides operational leadership and program oversight for specialized programs that support students with complex academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. The supervisor assists in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Extensions Program, Social Emotional Special Education Services (SESES), Bridge Program, and Model Learning Center (MLC) across schools and program sites. The supervisor works closely with school leaders, mental health professionals, program staff, and district teams to ensure services are implemented effectively and in compliance with federal and state requirements for students with disabilities and are in alignment with district and department strategies. This role provides technical assistance to schools and program staff regarding program operations, student supports, behavioral interventions, and service delivery practices. The supervisor also assists with staffing coordination, program monitoring, professional learning, and the consistent implementation of program standards. In collaboration with the director, the supervisor supports data review, program evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure that programs effectively meet the needs of students requiring specialized learning and behavioral support. The supervisor works with cross-functional teams and community partners to ensure coordinated services that promote student well-being, resilience, and academic success while supporting district initiatives aligned with the Maryland Blueprint for Education and Maryland Transforms. Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn and apply the six leadership standards established for MCAAP/MCBOA and understanding of the MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System and the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (PGS), including the supervision, evaluation, and professional development of staff.Education Training ExperienceMaster?s degree from an accredited institution, with additional graduate coursework in special education, administration, supervision. The position requires a minimum of five years of special education teaching experienceand one yearof central or school-based administrative experience in related services/specialized instruction in school or early intervention settings. Experience providing program-level leadership, management and supervision to professional and support staff, including coordinating assignments, monitoring work implementation, and supporting the evaluation of staff performance to ensure effective program operations and service delivery. Experience collaborating and engaging in problem-solving with parents/guardians, school administrators, and related central office administrators, staff from other central offices, and county agencies to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for students. Experience in planning, coordinating and implementing short- and long-range program initiatives, support organizational priorities, and assisting with implementing strategies that improve services and student outcomes.Certificate License: Meets Maryland state certification requirements for supervisor or Administrator I. Certification in special education or a related field. Completion of Observing and Analyzing Teaching (OAT) I must be completed one year of start date. Completion of OAT II within two years of position start date.
