Job Description – Accounting ManagerLocation: Phoenix – HybridDuration: 06/01/2026 – 12/31/2026Position Type: Contract / Staff AugmentationWork Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PMPosition SummarySeeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations, accounting processes, reconciliations, reporting, payroll review, budgeting activities, and management of accounting staff. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Arizona state financial systems, federal financial reporting, grants/funding management, and team leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and approve Accountant IV transactions in AZ360Review ACH transactions and ensure timely processingPerform monthly reconciliations of AZ360 funds and cash flow worksheetsReview General Fund Status reports (BQ90LV1)Manage payroll reconciliation and reporting activitiesReview and approve LGTS reconciliationsManage travel claims and investment splitsAssist with budget preparation and funding code assignmentsMaintain and manage Chart of Accounts structure and namingSupervise, train, and mentor accounting staff and new employeesAssist with accounting procedures for Long-Term Water Augmentation projectsPrepare MBE/WBE reports and assist with auditsSupport federal financial reporting (FFRs)Complete internal audits and corrective actionsPrepare disbursement claims and fund adjustments in AZ360Track interest payments from the State Treasurer’s OfficeSupport arbitration payment processing and PO managementRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong management/team leadership experienceExperience with:BQ38LV3 – Period Expense Reporting & AdjustmentsFederal Financial Reporting (FFRs)Grants and Federal FundingHands-on experience with:AZ360 FIN & HRM (Mandatory)DotStaff (Mandatory)eCivisAPPExperience supervising accounting operations and staffStrong reconciliation, budgeting, audit, and reporting experienceState government accounting experience preferredPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredAccounting certifications are a plusEquivalent experience of 15+ years in accounting may substitute for degreeExperience with water infrastructure or water-related projects preferredAdditional InformationPrimarily remote/work-from-home role with occasional onsite requirementsMandatory onsite attendance at least two days per month for Board and Committee meetingsMore onsite presence may be required during year-end activitiesCandidates must be local to the Phoenix, AZ areaIn-person interview availability required within one week after posting closureBackground check and drug screening required through HireRightImportant NotesArizona state platform experience is highly preferred
