Project Manager

V3 Construction is a general engineering contractor working on some of the largest infrastructure programs in California, including the Central Valley High-Speed Rail project. We are hiring a Project Manager to run assigned scopes of work on that program. This is a real project management job, not a coordinator role. You will own the budget, the schedule, and the contract position for the work assigned to you. You will make the calls on sequencing, means and methods, and crew deployment, and you will be the person the prime contractor calls when something needs to be resolved. You will report to our Area Manager and work primarily from the project corridor. What you'll do * Administer the subcontract — scope, notices, flow-down requirements, and change management * Identify changed and extra work, and prepare, price, and negotiate change orders * Build and maintain CPM schedules; sequence the work and plan crews and equipment * Own the project budget: track cost against budget, forecast cost at completion, and act on variance early * Prepare monthly pay applications and manage retention, lien releases, and collection * Source materials, evaluate quotes, and manage long-lead and owner-furnished material * Prepare work plans and inspection and test plans; manage hold points, testing, and nonconforming work * Enforce the safety program and stop work when conditions warrant * Direct superintendents, foremen, project engineers, and crews * Represent V3 to the prime contractor, the owner, agencies, and third parties What we're looking for *Required* * 5+ years of project management experience in heavy civil, transportation, or public works construction * Working knowledge of public agency specifications and contract administration, including Caltrans standards * Solid command of CPM scheduling, cost control, change management, and claims documentation * Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents independently * Valid California driver's license and insurability under our automobile policy * Ability to obtain project safety certifications and site access credentials *Preferred* * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field * Experience on rail, transit, or program-managed infrastructure work * Experience with drainage, wet utility, or underground construction * Familiarity with prevailing wage and certified payroll on California public works * Experience working under a joint venture prime contractor Leadership matters here Leadership is a foundational pillar of every management position at V3.
