It values collaboration and dedication to its mission of serving others with compassion and purpose.Role DescriptionThe Director of Engagement is a part-time position that will focus on discipleship, developing leaders, engaging, and energizing different groups, and bringing others to experience a deeper connection through faith, primarily through coordinating youth and family ministries as well as community outreach through social media and other forms. The position will be broken into three main tasks, detailed below:1. Director of Youth Engagementa. Coordinate and lead Trinity Youth activities (6-12 grade)i. Weekly meetings with Trinity Youth Groupii. Coordinate volunteers to work with Trinity Youth Groupiii. Coordinate Mission Trips and ELCA Youth Gatheringsiv. Work with the Social Ministry Committee as appropriate.b. Coordinate and lead Trinity Elementary Educational Ministry (PreK-5th grade)i. Weekly meetings of the Elementary Education Opportunity (after school or otherwise)ii. Coordinate volunteers to work with Trinity Elementary Educational Ministryiii. Facilitate Summer Day Camp in Partnership with Camp Ewalu.iv. Facilitate other partnerships with local churches for youth programming.v. Coordinate with Pastor and worship leaders to integrate youth into worship life of Trinity.2. Director of Community Engagementa. Engage with the community intentionally and proactively.i. Collaborate with the Office Administrator to tell the story of the congregation to a wider audience through various platforms, including front signage.ii. Provide content for communications resources including email newsletters, mailings, website, and social media.iii. Connect with other Quad Cities ELCA congregations to facilitate shared opportunities for education, fellowship, and social ministry/outreach.iv. Connect with the community and represent Trinity Lutheran Church through local events and organizations.v. Create a strategy to connect with new and diverse audiences through Trinity Lutheranvi. Utilize communications and marketing strategies to increase awareness and invite prospective members to worship and fellowship events.3. Director of Congregational Engagementa. Coordinate with Hospitality & Outreach Team connecting congregation members to one another.i. Explore possible certifications in Stephen Ministry and Implementation in congregation.b. Develop and coordinate a small group ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church.i. Develop a small group ministry for adults of all ages, seniors, and/or young adults.ii. Choose curriculum in consultation with Pastor.iii. Coordinate groups.c. Develop and coordinate regular social ministry/outreach emphases and education in conjunction with the Social Ministry Committee and Active Learning Committee.i. Engage and energize the core membership at Trinity Lutheran Church. Develop a broader emphasis on abundance and generosity with time, care of creation, etc.d. Develop and coordinate an annual leadership retreat for Congregation Council and team chairs.e. Preach or deliver “temple talks” on a regular basis at Trinity Lutheran Church.i. Meet with Pastor to plan preaching schedule.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES1. Attend staff meetings, council meetings, and applicable committee meetings as a staff member (voice, no vote) at Trinity Lutheran Church.2. Participate in Southeastern Iowa Synod Children, Youth, & Family Network Activitiesa. Seek out additional continued educational opportunities3. Other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation / Experience • Associate’s degree from a 2-year college or university or equivalent work experience required. Bachelor’s level education preferred.• Extensive experience either through volunteer work or a paid staff position in an ELCA congregationKnowledge / Skills • Computer knowledge, Microsoft Office Suite programs preferred.• Proficiency in Canva and Social Media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube).• Demonstrated interpersonal skills.Language Requirements • Fluent and proficient with the English language both in its written and oral forms.Mathematical Requirements• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide complex numbers.Reasoning Ability • Ability to exercise reasonable independent judgment to solve problems.• Ability to look ahead, anticipate challenges to meet multiple deadlines.Physical Demands • Regularly required to see, hear, stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, and stoop.• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds from the floor to 5 feet.• Ability to operate a vehicle.Attendance • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement.Background Check • A background check is required as part of the hiring process• Completion of Ministry Safe Sexual Abuse Prevention Training.• Facilitate volunteer background checks through Ministry Safe in accordance with Trinity Lutheran Church Child Protection Policy.
