Director of Advocacy & Community Relations Location: Ohio (Statewide)About Seniors First Ohio AdvocacySeniors First Ohio Advocacy is a nonprofit political advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the voice of Ohio’s seniors, caregivers, and long‑term care workforce. We educate communities about the challenges facing senior care and build broad public support for quality care, workforce stability, and sustainable funding. Our work is supported by organizations committed to high‑quality long‑term care, including providers such as CommuniCare.Position OverviewThe Director of Community Relations & Advocacy is a senior leadership role responsible for leading statewide community outreach, advocacy, and grassroots engagement across Ohio. This position builds and maintains strong relationships with individuals, caregivers, professionals, and organizations connected to post‑acute and long‑term care, while advancing policy‑focused education and public engagement efforts.The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self‑starter with experience in advocacy, community relations, outreach, or organizing, and a passion for improving outcomes for seniors and caregivers.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Outreach, Advocacy & EducationLead and execute statewide community outreach and advocacy initiativesEducate residents, families, caregivers, and professionals on issues impacting seniors and long‑term careOrganize and participate in grassroots, community, and professional engagement eventsServe as a visible and credible representative of Seniors First Ohio Advocacy across OhioGrassroots & Relationship BuildingRecruit and engage individuals, families, caregivers, and professionals in advocacy effortsBuild partnerships with community organizations, advocacy groups, providers, and professional associationsSupport and empower volunteer leaders to grow local advocacy engagementDrive supporter growth by encouraging individuals to add their name in support of seniors and caregiversCommunications & Content CollaborationCollaborate with communications staff on outreach, advocacy, and educational materialsContribute content for social media, presentations, print materials, and media appearancesEnsure messaging is accurate, accessible, and aligned with advocacy goalsOrganizational Growth & StrategyEducate new supporters and members on engagement and advocacy opportunitiesSupport statewide advocacy campaigns and organizational initiativesTrack outreach activity and engagement trends to inform leadership and strategyQualificationsRequiredExperience in community relations, advocacy, outreach, organizing, or a related fieldStrong written, verbal, and public‑speaking skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating cross‑functionallyWillingness to travel statewide throughout OhioProven relationship‑building and organizational skillsPreferredBackground in nonprofit advocacy, healthcare, long‑term care, or public policyFamiliarity with Medicaid, Medicare, or post‑acute/long‑term care systemsExperience working with grassroots networks, coalitions, or volunteersCore CompetenciesAdvocacy leadership and strategic outreachCoalition and relationship buildingClear, persuasive communicationMission‑driven public engagementExecutive presence with grassroots mindset
