Brief DescriptionKitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Program Director to join our Southern California region based out of San Diego and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.OverviewProvide Program leadership over a PM/CM Services team executing construction projects in the K-14 Education Market Sector.ResponsibilitiesDirects, leads, and is accountable for all phases of projects within the programEnsures program operations are executed in accordance with company project management procedures and policiesPlans, directs and is accountable for the achievement of program revenue and profit objectives and effective management of overhead costsMaintains and ensures client satisfaction and effectively resolves complaints when necessary to secure repeat businessParticipates in preparation and negotiation of owner contracts and ensures delivery and adherence to contractual requirements and that all aspects of owner contracts are accomplishedOversees preparation and maintenance of program budget, construction schedule and master program scheduleOversees preconstruction and construction progress and team performance to ensure conformance with schedule, budget, and contractual requirementsImplements and maintains effective systems of communication within and outside the program to ensure constructive relationships and the adequate flow of informationResponsible for executive level reporting to client, leadership, Board of Trustees or other stakeholders as requiredEnsures preparation and distribution of construction observation reports, progress status reports, schedules, pay applications and cost control reportsEnsures implementation and maintenance of effective document control mechanisms for the program, including as-builds, submittals, and requests for informationMaintains high quality standards, understands key process issues, and ensures implementation of process improvements for all work on the projectIdentifies and manages risk on the program, and advises and confers with regional executive prior to implementing risk mitigation actionsAssists with strategy development and substantially contributes to business development efforts for assigned projects including the preparation of proposals and presentations for new workActively participates in the business community and builds relationships within the industry to generate and enhance business opportunitiesEnsures workplace health and safety policies and procedures are clearly communicated and understood by program employees and enforces rules fairly and uniformlyProactively manages the training and professional development of program employeesFacilitates and ensures the continuous and effective execution of the performance management process for program employeesManages the staffing and compensation of program employees in accordance with company policies and proceduresProvide leadership and financial management support to the project team is requiredPerforms other duties as required to ensure program successRequirementsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is preferred12 years of experience in Management of Construction Projects is required with Design-build project delivery experience preferredExperience leading internal teams of 5 or more individuals is requiredMinimum 5 years of Division of State Architect (DSA) experience is requiredKnowledge of the architecture, engineering and construction management industry including current conditions and industry networks are requiredEffective presentation skills, ability to develop and deliver presentations to the end users, stakeholders, and the board of trustees is requiredEffective verbal and written communication skills to foster and maintain interpersonal relationships is requiredKnowledge And SkillsStrong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements for Division of the State Architect (DSA) projects is requiredStrong user skills with the MS Office Suite of products, Bluebeam, Procore, and construction industry budget and scheduling tools is requiredAbility to commit to a long duration program is seen as ideal and preferredLicenses and Certifications DBIA and CCM certifications preferredTravel RequirementsThis position is typically based at the client locations with opportunities around San Diego CountyTravel within the immediate region may be required as a Kitchell employee, and a valid California driver’s license is requiredWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and/or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.
