Overview Job title: Planning Policy Officer Salary: £34,962 to £38,791 per annum. Location: Maidenhead, Berkshire Job Type: Full Time Employer: The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) Expires: 05/04/2026 Sector: Corporate Services, Administration, Communications Job Role: Officer, Planner Location and context: The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) is set in the wider county of Berkshire, one of the most economically productive and innovative areas of the country. RBWM is a unitary authority with a strong focus on providing quality services to the community. Responsibilities Assist with the delivery of the council's development plan documents, particularly the Local Plan and other planning policy documents. Provide support for Neighbourhood Planning and the Council’s input into Spatial Development Strategies. Lead in providing digital and IT support to the Planning Policy team, including shaping the use of the council’s Consultation Portal, Geographical Information System packages and other digital tools. Lead on technical workstreams including policy drafting and developing evidence studies. Appoint and supervise external consultants to secure high quality, timely, and value-for-money delivery. Qualifications and experience Educated to degree level in planning or a related discipline. Minimum of two years’ experience in a town planning environment, preferably planning policy/Local Plan work. Familiar with producing Local Plans (especially) and Neighbourhood Plans. Strong digital/IT skills (e.g., Geographical Information Systems, databases, spreadsheets, consultation portals and new digital tools). Project management skills with the ability to work under pressure, set priorities, manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines.
