Structural Engineer
Cardinal Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer with at least three years of experience to support US Navy ship and submarine maintenance programs. The ideal candidate has experience in shipyard engineering, structural design, and engineering documentation. You will interface directly with US Navy customers and provide support to the deckplate team by conducting engineering analyses, performing inspections, and developing design solutions for critical naval projects.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct, document, and draw conclusions from Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections and engineering drawings to assess in-service submarine conditions.Generate internal inspection reports and manage engineering products, including Departure from Specifications (DFSs) and Liaison Action Requests (LARs).Prepare draft DFSs for shipyards, focusing on preservation and structural items to support ongoing maintenance and modifications.Support Shipyard Planning work, including task coordination and scheduling.Utilize Microsoft PowerApps and the Microsoft SharePoint environment to manage workflows.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 3 years in shipyard engineering, naval structures, or submarine systems preferred.Technical Skills: Familiarity with Engineering Drawings, DFSs, Public Shipyard processes and engineering paperwork processing; basic understanding of Microsoft PowerApps and SharePointSoft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.Clearance: Must currently possess or be capable of obtaining a SECRET security clearance.LocationHybrid, with reporting offices at the Washington Navy Yard or Pawcatuck, CT.
