Transmission Line Engineer
The Transmission Line Engineer / PLS CADD Subject Matter Expert is responsible for managing and executing the design portion of transmission line engineering projects. The ideal candidate would be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and be a proactive and self-motivated employee who is able to think critically and learn concepts quickly.ResponsibilitiesGenerate transmission line deliverables including route alignment drawings, sag charts, stringing charts, loading diagrams, foundation drawingsInterface with internal and external teams to resolve technical challengesProvide mentorship and training to less experienced engineers in PLS-CADD and transmission line designDrive the design aspects of a transmission line project and identify technical challengesUnderstand client specifications and design requirements and communicate those to othersKeep up with software and technology trends relating to transmission line design and look for ways to continuously improve the workflowOccasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk, and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controlsFrequently use close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focusQualificationsB.S. in Structural/Civil EngineeringRegistered Professional EngineerStructural analysis and design of transmission lines and substation structures up to 345kVExperience includes new line, rehabilitation, and relocation for projects that traverse varying elevations and urban alleysExperience includes projects that vary in length from several poles to 20+ milesExperience includes a variety of structures including monopoles, lattice structures, and guyed towersFoundation design and steel detailingExperience with distribution design is a plusProficiency with PLS-CADD and affiliated modules including TOWER, PLS-POLE, SAGSEC, CAISSON, and SAPSCompetitive BenefitsLearn more about our competitive benefits in detail.Why Nexus?Nexus Engineering Group, a distinguished independent full-service engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCm) firm, provides comprehensive support to clients from concept through startup.
