The Building Center, Inc.Job Title: Class B DriverReports to: Division ManagerFLSA Status: Hourly, Non-ExemptDivision: Rock Hill, SCSummary:Delivers complete, accurate, and on-time deliveries to the company's customers. Represents the company in a highly professional, safe, and cost-effective manner that complies with DOT and other applicable regulations.Job Duties:Prepares truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of truck and securing of items and by verifying the accuracy of shipping papersInspects truck tires, lights, brakes, fluids, etc., to ensure safe and cost-effective performance, with preventive maintenance in mindDelivers orders via the most effective route to ensure complete orders are delivered according to established timeframes and customers' needsMaintains communication with company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are receivedDocuments delivery, accuracy, and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives and reports any discrepancies to companyIncreases customer satisfaction by collecting information and feedback on service and resolving complaints per company policy; communicates information back to companyInforms customers of new products and services that can increase customer satisfaction and salesMaintains and monitors truck maintenance and driving record requirements; maintains required documents for safety, security, and quality processesUpdates job knowledgeSafely operates forklifts and other warehouse equipment, as requiredMaintains a safe driving record free of violationsPerforms occasional warehouse and counter dutiesMaintains proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies, as requiredFollows company policies and proceduresPerforms other duties, as assignedQualifications & Requirements:CDL Class B LicenseSuperior customer serviceProfessional demeanorWorking knowledge of DOT rules and regulationsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructionsAbility to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variablesAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructionsAbility to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situationsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphsEducation/Experience:High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred, but not required.CDL Class A or B LicenseClass D license for up to 26,000 pounds.Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulationsWork Environment:While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
