DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Legal Assistant 1, you will play a vital role in supporting attorneys to ensure the intelligent and timely management of their assigned caseloads. Working within the Pittsburgh legal office, you will help address an increased workload and provide assistance with Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) litigation issues. Your primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive clerical and administrative support, such as managing new case intakes, scanning and uploading documentation, and maintaining accurate status updates within office spreadsheets and contact lists. In this role, you will prepare formal correspondence and legal documents for attorney review, coordinate witness instructions for hearings conducted via Microsoft Teams, and maintain organized filing systems. Collaboration will be key, as you will assist PSP headquarters staff in Harrisburg with discovery, the editing of pre-trial and post-trial motions, and the preparation of exhibits and affidavits. Additionally, you will manage office communications through telephone, mail, and resource account e-mails, while utilizing the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's online systems to verify licensing data. By navigating procedural requirements for firearms cases and ensuring adherence to local court rules, you will provide the foundational support necessary for successful litigation and efficient office operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week, subject to the approval of the General Counsel after completion of a 6-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements
You must obtain a bachelor's degree on or before June 30, 2026.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Experience in a legal environment
Legal Requirement
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
