Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist (Medical Instrument Technician)Specialty: Diagnostic Medical Sonography / Vascular UltrasoundPlace of Work (City/State): VA Portland Health Care System - Two Locations:Portland, OR 3710 SW U.S. Veterans Hospital Road, Portland, OR 97239 Vancouver, WA (Vancouver Campus) 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98661 Duration: 1-year base contract with up to four (4) option years Shift Schedule : Primarily 8-hour day shifts (Monday-Friday). On-call rotation required; callback and additional coverage as needed. How many shifts needed per month: Approximately full-time coverage (1.0 FTE = 2,080 hours/year per technologist) Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks License: ARDMS Certifications: ARDMS (Abdomen/Small Parts required) RVT or vascular ultrasound experience preferred BLS (AHA preferred) Experience needed: Minimum 3 years hospital ultrasound experience (US-based) Must have worked as an Ultrasound Tech in the last 6 months (flexible up to 9 months case-by-case) Vascular ultrasound experience required Special Skills needed: Abdomen, pelvic, scrotal, GYN, and small parts ultrasound Doppler studies and U/S-guided biopsies Independent decision-making and emergency scanning Responsibilities: Perform standard and complex ultrasound exams Ensure image quality and PACS transmission Coordinate scheduling and emergency cases Maintain patient records and exam documentation Communicate critical findings to radiologists Participate in after-hours and on-call coverage Misc: Participation in shared on-call rotation (approx. 4000 annual on-call hours across team) Candidates may be required to work at either Portland or Vancouver location based on facility needs Long-term assignment; preference for candidates available for extended duration
