Certified Nursing Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide high-quality patient care across various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse patient populations, including long-term care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and acute care environments. This role involves assisting with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and supporting medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The CNA will play a vital role in fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for patients of all ages and needs.
Duties
Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
Monitor and record vital signs accurately using EMR/EHR systems and document patient information following HIPAA regulations
Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper handling of medical supplies including catheter care and wound management
Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health needs
Assist in post-acute, sub-acute, outpatient, inpatient, home care, hospice, and long-term care settings including assisted living and nursing homes
Maintain infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sanitation procedures
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, ICU, trauma centers (Level I & II), pediatric units (PICU), and other specialized departments such as cardiology or infectious disease units
Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-discharge care plans
Support patient safety by recognizing signs of deterioration and escalating concerns promptly
Qualifications
Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certifications highly desirable
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is advantageous
Ability to work effectively with patients with disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral health challenges including dementia or Alzheimer's care
Strong communication skills and compassionate caregiving approach essential
Ability to work in fast-paced settings such as emergency medicine or urgent care units
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Flexibility to work various shifts including days or nights as required by the healthcare facility
