Structural Engineering Manager

Your Role at BSIThe Structural Engineer Manager is responsible for leading and developing BSI’s Structural Engineering team while ensuring the successful execution of structural projects. This role provides technical leadership, project oversight, resource planning, quality assurance, and mentorship to engineers and designers. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills, effectively managing teams, budgets, client relationships, and project delivery while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Responsibilities And ScopeLead, mentor, and develop structural engineers, designers, and technical staff. Conduct performance discussions, coaching, and career development planning. Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding engineering personnel. Manage team workload and resource allocation across multiple projects. Monitor project schedules, budgets, and staffing needs. Coordinate priorities among disciplines and offices. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.Gather field data and inspects sites and structures to evaluate existing conditions when necessary.Oversee structural design efforts performed by engineers and designers.Ensure structural design is accurate and coordinated within the model and drawings.Lead multidisciplinary project teams and provides technical direction.Write project-based documents including, but not limited to: studies, project notes, scope, close-out reports.Select appropriate construction materials.Obtain plans and building regulation approvals.Coordinate with outside consultants and contractors when required (geotechnical engineers, construction contractors, etc.).Participate in construction support, startup, and commissioning efforts.Follow the BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards, ensuring quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables.Manage departmental resources, project schedules, and budget performance across multiple projects.Review, seal, and approve engineering deliverables as required.Qualifications10+ years of experience in Structural Engineering role designing structures in steel, concrete, masonry, and/or wood3+ years of engineering leadership, supervisory, or project management experience.Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.Professional Engineer (PE) license required.Skilled with Risa-3DFamiliar with necessary codes, including but not limited to: IBC, ASCE, ACI 318, AISC, and NDSCompetent in selecting construction materials, construction methods, and industry standardsStrong structural analysis experience, including 3D and solid finite element modelingWhat We OfferIndividualized Mentoring and Development programTuition Reimbursement and support with continuing educationFlexible Telecommuting PolicyPaid Time for Charitable EffortsPaid Parental LeaveCompetitive base salary, paid overtime, generous bonus programsPTO and Paid HolidaysStock and 401(k) with company matchHealth, Dental, and VisionOur Values: Be Inspiring Be Invested Be Improving Be Innovative Be Impactful Be Involved Be In Demand Who We AreOur Purpose: Creating Solutions, Improving Lives.
