Phlebotomist
Loyal Source Government Services is looking for 1 part-time Phlebotomist to provide services to The VA Medical Center (VAMC) located in Viera, Florida
Job Summary: Phlebotomist must provide professional medical services and quality care to our Veteran population. Located at VAMC in Viera, Florida Phlebotomist are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals
Pay Rate: $17.95/ hr
Duties:
phlebotomist shall be responsible for accurately identifying patients, obtaining the proper specimens, recognizing and immediately reporting adverse patient reaction to venipuncture procedures to appropriate VA personnel.
Phlebotomist shall collect specimens by venipuncture in the proper tube and correct order of drawn, and ensure tubes volume is adequate, specimen not clotted, and limit hemolysis.
Phlebotomist shall be responsible for processing laboratory specimens (to include aliquoting, storing and preparing for transport to the main laboratory according to DOT and OSHA guidelines), computer related functions such as accessioning specimens and other related tasks. Phlebotomist shall refer problems/inquiries to VA team leaders or supervisors.
Phlebotomist shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
Phlebotomist shall make every effort to prevent specimen mislabels, multiple venipuncture procedures on the same patient while providing care.
Qualifications:
Required to have a minimum of (2) years of college with a biological science degree or (6) months of specialized experience performing phlebotomy procedures.
Certification from an approved Phlebotomy Training Program by the National Phlebotomy Association (NPA),
Required to have direct work experience working in a healthcare setting.
Required to be highly reliable in providing services and support that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.
Phlebotomist shall be fully trained and completely competent to perform the required work.
All contract phlebotomist personnel shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
Required to have experience in dealing with hospital patient population, including drawing elderly and difficult patients.
Shall have tact and personality conducive to interacting with ill, disoriented, sometimes difficult outpatient population.
Required to have basic typing and PC computer skills.
Must have an active BLS/AHA (preferred) certification
Additional Information:
Phlebotomists will not be scheduled to work on holidays. However, in the event of an emergent situation, a contract employee may be asked to work during a holiday; participation will be voluntary.
