Physical Therapist AssistantPosition Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a qualified physical therapist in accordance with the plan of care.Service Area: 19901, 19973, 19966Benefits Include but not Limited to:Daily PayMileage PaidPaid Per VisitMake Your Own ScheduleCompany Matched 401KEssential Duties:Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of a qualified physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care and as defined in the state Physical Therapy Practice Act.Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.Administers non-complex therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to clients with relatively stable conditions.Instructs, motivates and assists clients in learning and improving functional activities.Observes clients progress and response to treatment and reports findings to the physical therapist.Assists in preparing clinical notes and progress reports documenting physical therapy treatments performed and submits them for review into the clinical record.Reports any changes in the client's condition to the qualified supervising Physical Therapist and Director of Nursing/Director of Therapy. Changes in the plan of care may be made following authorization, instruction and supervision by the Physical Therapist.Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.Participates in case conference, staff meeting and in-service education programs.Participates in educating the client/caregiver.Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.Participates in the educational program of the new staff and students in the area of practice.Maintains accurate clinical records, keeping track of goals and progress of clients.Abided by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards.Teaches clients how to properly perform exercise techniques.Performs other duties as assigned.Position Requirements & Competencies:Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an Associate's degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice.At least one (1) years' experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant (preferred).Complies and maintains current CPR certification.Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment.Possess knowledge of principles and practices of physical therapy.Ability to complete necessary documentation appropriately, legibly and timely.Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to complete job responsibilities.Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance.Addus provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.
