Behavioral Specialist
in Annapolis, MDAbout the Role:We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Behavioral Specialist to join our growing team dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges as well as providing trauma informed care to children and youth impacted by Human Trafficking. The Behavioral Specialist will work collaboratively with our residential team to assess client needs, develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and work collaboratively with families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams across various settings.Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 (negotiable)Benefits: Health insurance, dental and vision coverage, 401(k), paid time off, professional development supportKey Responsibilities:Develop/ Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavioral observationsDevelop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plansProvide training and support to staff, caregivers, and families on behavior strategiesCollect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventionsCollaborate with therapists, educators, and case managers to coordinate careMaintain accurate documentation in compliance with state/ federal regulations and organizational guidelinesQualifications:Master’s degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Social Work, Special Education, or related fieldBoard Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred; candidates pursuing certification considered, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) certification, Licensed Behavioral Specialist (LBS),Certifications: ABA, CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, RBT, etc..Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with behavioral or developmental needs in congregate care/ residential settingsKnowledge of Maryland state behavioral health regulations and evidence based practicesStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamPreferred Experience:Experience working in school-based, residential, or clinical environmentsBilingual candidates encouraged to applyFamiliarity with electronic health records and data collection softwareKey Credentials for Behavioral Specialists in Maryland Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)Credentialing Body: Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)Educational Requirement: Master’s degree in behavior analysis, psychology, education, or a related fieldCoursework: Completion of BACB-approved coursework in applied behavior analysis (ABA)Supervised Experience: Completion of supervised fieldwork as specified by the BACBExamination: Passing the BCBA certification examScope of Practice: BCBAs are trained to assess and treat behavioral issues, often working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges in various settings, including schools, clinics, and homes. Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)Licensing Authority: Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and TherapistsPrerequisites: Hold a current BCBA certification Submit an application to the Maryland licensing board Fulfill any additional state-specific requirementsPurpose: Licensure ensures that practitioners meet state standards for professional practice, providing an added layer of public protection.
