The platform is designed to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining employer branding through white-labeling and configurable workflows.Role Description The Lead Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining core backend services that power HummingBird’s AI-driven talent platform. This full-time, on-site role in San Diego, TX involves leading the implementation of Java-based microservices, optimizing system performance and scalability, and ensuring high reliability and security of production systems. The person in this role will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, review code, and enforce best practices across the development team. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, testable code, integrating with third-party ATS/VMS systems, managing API contracts, conducting technical design reviews, and mentoring team members. The Lead Java Developer will also participate in deployment planning, troubleshooting complex issues, and continuously improving the platform’s architecture and development processes.QualificationsStrong software development skills, including experience designing scalable architectures and leading engineering initiatives.Proficiency in Java and core programming concepts, with a focus on building high-performance backend services.Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, including service design, communication patterns, and deployment in distributed environments.Solid knowledge of the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security) for building enterprise-grade applications.Experience with RESTful APIs, relational and/or NoSQL databases, and integration with third-party platforms or enterprise systems.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.Ability to lead and mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and establish coding standards and best practices.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience working on SaaS or data
