Generative AI Developer with Java

Job Role: Generative AI Developer – JavaLocation: NYC, NY (Onsite)Mode of Hiring: ContractJob OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Generative AI Developer with strong Java expertise to design, develop, and integrate AI-powered applications and enterprise solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Java/Spring Boot development along with practical experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG, prompt engineering, AI agents, vector databases, and AI APIs.You will work closely with product, engineering, and data teams to build scalable, secure, and production-ready GenAI solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop Generative AI applications using Java and Spring Boot.Integrate LLMs such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or other enterprise AI platforms.Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications using enterprise data.Implement prompt engineering, prompt templates, evaluation, and optimization techniques.Build AI-powered APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.Work with LangChain4j, Spring AI, or similar Java-based AI frameworks.Integrate and manage vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or PostgreSQL with pgvector.Develop AI agents and tool-calling workflows for enterprise use cases.Implement document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, semantic search, and retrieval pipelines.Develop secure and scalable AI solutions suitable for production environments.Integrate GenAI solutions with existing enterprise applications and databases.Implement authentication, authorization, data security, and responsible AI practices.Develop automated testing and evaluation frameworks for LLM-based applications.Monitor application performance, AI response quality, latency, and cost.Collaborate with DevOps teams to deploy AI applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.Required SkillsJava DevelopmentStrong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17/21.Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST APIs, and Microservices.Good understanding of Java collections, multithreading, exception handling, and design patterns.Experience with SQL and relational databases.Experience with Maven or Gradle.Knowledge of API security using OAuth2/JWT is preferred.
