Trailer Mechanic

Bulk Manufacturing of Florida, a fast-paced cargo tank/cargo trailer repair facility and fabrication shop is looking for a responsible, detail-oriented individual to fill a FULL-TIME immediate opening for one of our Trailer Mechanics. The position is an integral part of our operations and growth of the company. The position will work under the direction of the shop floor manager and is expected to manage their own work activities and resources to perform work in accordance with cost, quality and schedule.QUALIFICATIONSAbility to use and understand intermediate math, such as multiplication, division and fractions; ability to use and understand simple measuring devices; ability to use basic hand and power tools (hand grinders, impact wrenches). Requires the use of simple measuring devices.Understands basic electrical and control systems.REQUIRED TOOLS: Qualified candidates will be vetted and are expected to have and/or acquire their own hand tools relative to the requirements of tasks assigned them in accordance with their skill and ability level.Power tools are provided by Bulk. PPE is provided by Bulk.Welders need to provide their own hood and mechanics hand tools below.Mechanics need to provide, at a minimum. 25’ Measuring Tape Screwdriver Set Combination Square Framing Square ScribeSet of Vice Grips Set of Pliers Combination Wrenches (standard and metric)3/8” Drive and 1/2” Drive Socket Set (standard and metric)Any tools broken or worn out will be replaced by Bulk.BASIC DUTIES:Only representative duties of this job are described below. Related details and additional miscellaneous duties may not be described but may be required in the performance of this job.Performs repair work on trailers, trouble shoots and determines appropriate method to repair or replace defective equipment.Operates various testing equipment according to Company standards on piping systems, venting systems and other related functions on cargo tanks and trailers.Surveys external and internal damaged on trailers and determines appropriate procedures to repair. Performs pressure testing on tank trailers, follows set procedures on filling, sealing and draining.Makes repairs to piping, valves, vents and actuated systems.Checks, inspects, and reports to supervisor regarding conditions on:Upper 5th plates, landing gear assemblies • Sub-frames• Tires, brake systems • Ladder, walkways • Complete condition of suspension • Fender, mud flaps • Hydraulic systems• Logos - decalso Anticipates material and special parts required to complete job repairs and notifies supervisor in advance to minimize service delays.Operates machinery and equipment incident to this position. Maintains normal service and standards, as established by the Company.Consults with Shop Supervisor as required on important matters for review and approval. Performs other duties as assigned or necessary by supervisor.WORKING CONDITIONS: Some exposure to one or more elements (noise, dust, dirt, heat, oil, some wetness, cold, chemicals).PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Considerable physical exertion requiring a continuity of effort working with heavy materials and/or tools or difficult work positions for sustained periods of time; ability to lift up to 75 lbs. required; requires working on top of trailers, ladders, and inside tank trailer work.OTHER COMMENTS: Demonstrates ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to adapt to fluctuating demands and time restraints; ability to work as part of a team in assigned area.
