We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilledPhysical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physicianto join our healthcare team atFort Carson with the Intrepid Spirit Centers Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI) .
The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) and Intrepid Spirit Centers (ISCs) are part of a specialized centers dedicated to improving outcomes for service members and families affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and related conditions. These centers deliver integrated, evidence-based, and patient-centered care through interdisciplinary teams, while also supporting research and education aligned with the Department of Defense's readiness and resilience priorities. Their model combines TBI rehabilitation, neurological and behavioral health care, integrative medicine, and skills-based training to develop collaborative, individualized treatment plans. In addition, providers use the Anomalous Health Incident Acute Assessment (DHA Form 244) to guide early evaluations of patients exposed to suspected AHIs, a condition still under scientific investigation with symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, hearing loss, and cognitive changes. This role offers an opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings, utilizing advanced skills in medical documentation, EMR systems, and patient education to improve health outcomes.
Schedule:
Hours of operation are between 6am and 6pm ( typically clinical hours are 7am - 4pm ).
Staff members are expected to perform 8- or 10-hour shifts, for a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday.

Must be a US Citizen
Degree/Education:Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or
equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited
by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of
American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on
Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting
body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a
foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited
schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States
is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical
Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the
United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S.
Medical Licensing Examination.
Basic Life Certification (BLS)
Board Certification:Board Certified or Board Eligible through American Board of
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)
Licensure/Registration:A current, valid, unrestricted license or registration as a
Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a
territory of the United States.
Internship/ Residency:Successful completion of an internship and residency program
which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training). For purposes of this requirement, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below:
oAn internship programinvolves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians
acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g.,
internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such
programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training an
appropriate accrediting body.
oA residency programinvolves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or
an institution accredited for training in the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body.
oA fellowship programinvolves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given
medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution
accredited in the United States for such training.
Experience:At least two years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting within the past five years with privileges in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Duties:
Providing expert level clinical care in PM&R specific evaluations, diagnoses and treatment
including on development of brain injury medicine treatment plans.
Examines and assess patients, develops, and manages a comprehensive and long-term
rehabilitation program. Evaluates imagining studies, and prescribes appropriate treatment
which may include the use of alternative and complementary medicine, physical
rehabilitation, and eye/ear/speech rehabilitation.
Develops an interdisciplinary approach to maximize knowledge advancement and or TBI
and PH care as it pertains to the rehabilitation of patients.
Be an expert in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, prescribe the full
spectrum of Physical Therapy, Occupational therapy, Speech, Neuropsychology evaluations,
and social work services. Order Radiology, laboratory tests, makes diagnoses and
prescribe/direct appropriate Rehabilitation treatment to include drugs, and dietary care as indicated. Perform and interpret full range of Electrophysiology (i.e. Electromyography
(EMG), Nerve conduction velocity (NCV), Repetitive Stimulation Studies (RSS . Perform
prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation equipment evaluations and prescriptions.
Teach, and provides consultation to a health care team comprised of other physicians,
medical professionals, and ancillary staff.
Complete training to obtain knowledge and maintain competency in the following systems:
MHS Genesis, Dragon dictation software, and Microsoft Office programs.
Comply with regulatory, MTF, and Joint Commission quality inspection/ peer review/
utilization management requirements, and applicable system applications.
Contractor employees shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF
standards, to include, but not limited to: timeliness, accuracy, content, and signature.
Contractor employees shall only use DoD approved abbreviations for documentation in the
patient health records. (DoDI 6025.13 and DoDM 6055.05)
Document and close notes in MHS Genesis within three (3) business days of patient
encounters.
Respond to beneficiary messages submitted and received in the MHS Genesis secure portal
systems within one (1) business day.
