Board Treasurer

Location: San Diego, CAPosition type: Part-time / VolunteerTime Commitment: Participate in one 2-hr Board Meeting per month (weekday evening), approximately 5 hrs per month duties on a remote/flexible schedule, plus occasional community or fundraising events.About Our Organization:Since 2001, Doors of Change has been dedicated to transforming the lives of unhoused youth in San DiegoCounty through a philosophy of individualized, one-on-one care. Our mission is to transform the lives ofunhoused youth through immediate response, personalized support, and pathways to housing, healing, andself-sufficiency. Position:The Treasurer serves as a volunteer leadership role on the Board of Directors and works collaboratively tosupport and advance the mission of Doors of Change. The Treasurer will oversee the organization's financial management and fiscal health. This position requires commitment to the organization's mission. It demands active participation in board meetings and finance committees. Officers are elected by the Board and serve 1-year terms that are renewable.Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and present it to the other board members for review. Ensure that the organization’s monthly and quarterly financial statements are reviewed by the board. Oversee the filing of tax returns to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Devise and oversee internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets. Develop and put in place the nonprofit’s financial policies and investment strategies to maintain cashreserves. When applicable, coordinate the audit process, liaising with external auditors as necessary.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or MBApreferred. Proven experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Strong understanding of nonprofit financial principles and regulations. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Skill in accounting software, fundraising, and financial management systems.Application Process:Please contact Joanne Newgard at joanne@doorsofchange.org if interested in order to schedule an initialZoom or in-person interview and to learn more about the orientation and onboarding process.
