This role is critical in ensuring construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, and applicable standards, while maintaining quality, safety, and schedule adherence.You’ll be working closely with contractors, project managers, and agency stakeholders on high-impact transportation projects including highways, bridges, and roadway rehabilitation programs.ResponsibilitiesMonitors contractor operations and verifying conformance with project plans and specificationsServes as the on-site highway inspector for construction work performed by the contractor and subcontractors.Interacts with the construction contractor’s site supervision on field activities to ensure compliance with the construction contract requirementsPrepares daily reports, correspondence, change orders, periodic payment estimates, and quantity computationsObserves details of work performed by others, documenting results; obtaining photographic documentation of work performedConfirms compliance with technical documents and industry-specific standards and codesReviews and downloads field data into laptop computer and transfer to company serverDiscusses projects with project team on a daily basisMakes accurate judgment-calls on a variety of construction field activitiesPerforms other like duties, as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil engineering is preferredNICET Level II in Highway Construction certification is requiredACI, TCC, CCTC, and NJSAT certifications required3+ years of experience in highway construction inspectionExperience with NJDOT / NJTA projects requiredOSHA 10-hour safety course is requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsGood time-management skillsAbility to perform under pressureGood skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerpointA strong attention to detail is necessary.BenefitsArtheon offers a competitive compensation package including medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, educational assistance program and paid time off/parental leave.
