Facility Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert (SME)
BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.
Position Summary
BB&E is currently looking for a Facility Cyber Security SME to provide technical support for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) at Tyndall Air Force Base, FL. This is a fully remote role with occasional travel required to meet client needs.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise for the acquisition, development, and sustainment of industrial control systems (ICS), sub-systems, networking, and cybersecurity solutions
Define performance criteria and plan designs for ICS and major electronic/electrical systems, ensuring compliance with Information Assurance/Cybersecurity regulations
Provide technical assistance on policies, guidance, and execution of the Air Force Certification and Accreditation Program, supporting installations and Major Commands (MAJCOMs)
Manage the resolution of ICS-related technical issues, conduct policy reviews, and contribute to the development of new guidelines
Perform design reviews, evaluate proposals, conduct cybersecurity research, and troubleshoot complex technical problems
Develop and deliver presentations, briefings, and technical papers documenting project decisions
Manage organizational communication, including agendas, meeting minutes, and technical reports
Contribute to the development of criteria, code reviews, and policy interpretation, resolving issues related to conflicting guidelines
Evaluate emerging technologies, best practices, and recommend cost-effective solutions based on industry standards
Assist with the creation and facilitation of training programs and course content in the cybersecurity domain
Key Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and Top Secret/SCE Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a clearance are required; current clearance a plus
Certification: DoD 8570.01M IAT-III certification (CISSP or equivalent), or willingness to obtain certification through employer-provided training
Knowledge: Must be familiar with all DoD and AF Engineering Policies/Concepts to include:
In-depth understanding of DoD risk management concepts, commercial and industrial computer network design, and cyber security practices
Familiarity with cybersecurity laws regulations and policies such as NDAA 2016, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, Risk Management Framework, 800-53, and 800-82, DoDD 8500 series, and AFI 33-210
Experience interpreting/reviewing and developing computer network system schematics, site drawings, and data sheets
Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience & Education
Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of related experience with minimum of five (5) years’ experience directly related to the cybersecurity practices and computer network design supporting large organizations (e.g., over 500 users)
Education: Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field with fifteen (15) or more years of experience involving cybersecurity practices and computer network design in a military environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
Ability to talk or hear both in person and by telephone
Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
