Position OverviewThe Mold Maker/Mold Craftsman is responsible for constructing molds and tooling used in themed and specialty fabrication projects. This position includes multiple skill levels — from Journeyman to Lead — and provides opportunities for hands-on learning, technical mastery, and leadership within Nassal’s Mold Shop.Team members work collaboratively to produce high-quality fiberglass (FRP), silicone, and composite molds in a fast-paced production environment, upholding Nassal’s standards for safety, quality, and efficiency as part of the PCL Family of Companies.Overall Key Responsibilities:Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.Build fiberglass (FRP), silicone, and composite molds according to shop drawings and specifications.Read and interpret blueprints and project documentation with accuracy.Safely operate hand and power tools, such as grinders, drills, sanders, and cutting equipment.Mix, apply, and finish materials to create structurally sound, production-ready molds.Inspect work to ensure precision, accuracy, and alignment with QA/QC standards.Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workspace at all times.Collaborate with team members, leads, and other departments to meet production deadlines.Train or mentor junior staff (depending on experience level).Support continuous improvement through communication and problem-solving.Perform additional duties as assigned.Skill Levels and Expectations:Journeyman (Intermediate) Independently performs mold-building tasks with minimal supervision.Reads and interprets shop drawings to execute molds accurately.Applies FRP and silicone materials, ensuring adherence to quality standards.Collaborates effectively to support larger projects.Lead (Leadership) Oversees daily shop production, schedules, and quality assurance.Directs a team of 10+ employees and ensures all safety and workflow standards are met.Communicates across departments to align project goals and resolve challenges.Provides leadership, training, and resource management to optimize output.Qualifications: 3+ years of mold-making experience (FRP, silicone, or composite), depending on level.Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents.Skilled in using hand and power tools safely.Strong understanding of shop safety and PPE requirements.Excellent teamwork and communication skills.Leadership experience preferred for senior levels.Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:Shop and fabrication environment with exposure to dust, heat, noise, and odors.Must be able to wear appropriate PPE (including respirators, gloves, eye protection, etc.) for extended periods.Requires standing, bending, and lifting, up to 30 lbs. regularly.May require overtime or weekend work based on project needs.Why Join NassalAt The Nassal Company, part of the PCL Family of Companies, you’ll work on innovative, large-scale projects that combine artistry, engineering, and craftsmanship.
