The primary responsibilities of the Retail Sales 1 Associate positions are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales throughout the store, effectively merchandise products, process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently handle cash register operations and assist in retail stocking, resets, labeling, etc.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure each customer receives outstanding customer service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standardsAccurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registersIssue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customersMaintain awareness of all promotions and advertisementsExecute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store managementAssist in the training and development of peersUphold merchandising and store cleanliness standardsParticipate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organizedBe conscious of shoplifting activityAid customers in locating merchandise in the store, on acehardware.com, as well as processing special ordersCorrectly organize and stock products from the weekly Ace truckAnswer customers' questions and provide information on procedures and policiesExecute inventory management protocol as established by the Store ManagerAdhere to all store safety policiesGreet customers as they enter the storeAnswer phone callsTactfully and pleasantly assist customersSolicit customers to open an Ace Rewards cardVerify documents and receive productRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEducation/Training: High School Diploma or GEDPossess product knowledge of hardware-related products along with a willingness to learnEstablishing relationships and working with customersExperience in a retail environment, either in marketing, sales, or back-officeSkills/Knowledge: Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash registersA commitment to service excellence and customer satisfactionSolid team player with excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitaskAbility and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the businessAbility to stand for an extended period of timeMove and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the storeMust work weekends and Ace eventsJob responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.Physical RequirementsFrequently stock, load, and unload customer orders lifting to 40lbsAbility to stand for an extended period of timeClimbing step stools and ladders up to 10'Training RequirementsAce Learning Place beginning coursesEpicor Training POS basics coursesPropane certification (if applicable)Forklift certification (if applicable)Service Center trainingHelpful ReadyAce Hardware is an equal opportunity employer in a drug-free environment.Ace goes beyond hardware: build a future, a purpose, and a community with us.Work/life balance: This position is with a team that respects your life outside of work.
