A career with Columbia Nursing has never been so inviting!The ColumbiaDoctors Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Group is the faculty practice of Columbia University School of Nursing. We are currently recruiting an energetic, compassionate and reliable Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical practice. This is a full time, in person position located in Upper Manhattan on the Columbia University Medical Campus serving the Washington Heightsand CUIMCcommunity.Our Nurse Practitioners provide a full scope of primary, episodic, travel medicine, chronic, and women's health care to a diverse patient population with complex comorbidities. This is a full time, in person position, requiring at least 8 clinical sessions per week with administrative/academic time embedded into the schedule. Patient visits are conducted in person with occasional telemedicine visits. Providers have clinical and admitting privileges at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and work in partnership with more than1,200 providers at ColumbiaDoctors. Our NPs are committed to their patients' health, specializing in primary care and targeted individualized disease prevention and health promotion and upholding the mission of the School of Nursing.Clinical Responsibilities:Assesses the health status of patients by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination.Initiates and orders selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examination, prescribes medication regimens, interprets findings and alters plan of care according to accepted standards of care and evidence-based practice guidelinesEducates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area.Initiates referrals to specialty services and fosters continuity of care.Document patient encounters thoroughly in Epic and sign notes within 24 hours of a patient visit.Participate in team meetings and conferences. Engages in quality improvement projects.Participate in after hours, on-call services in a rotation with colleagues.Punctual provider, respecting their patients' time while managing a full scheduleLab and imaging results will be relayed to the patient in a timely manner by phone, mail, and/or MyChart (Connect)Guest lecture for School of Nursing on various topics or areas of interest/expertisePrecept students from the school of Nursing while maintaining a full clinical schedulePractice a team-based approach, working closely with allied health professionals, ancillary staff and colleagues.Columbia University offers a competitive salary & outstanding benefits package. Successful candidates will possess:A master's degree (MSN) from a recognized institution of higher education;A doctoral degree (DNP) from a recognized institution of higher education; preferredA minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; providing direct patient care in an ambulatory care settingAn active, unrestricted New York State license as Nurse Practitioner, current national board certification as a Family or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, DEA license/registration and BLS;The selected candidates will have exemplary oral & written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced & changing environment, proficiency utilizing electronic medical records and solid critical thinking skills;Bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants will be given preferential consideration.Demonstrate advanced skills in problem assessment, resolution and collaborative problem solving in complex, and interdisciplinary settings including advanced proficiency in nursing competenciesCandidate must be well organized and able to manage a demanding workload and moderately complex cases in an accurate and timely fashionHave a positive outlook, motivated, and has ability to work well as a team with ancillary staff, allied health professionals and colleaguesAbility to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situationsMaintain an outstanding professional credibility and personal integrity, with a history of excellent patient satisfactionDemonstrate strong commitment to primary care and interest in developing long term clinical relationships with their patientsColumbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / VeteranPay Transparency DisclosureThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
