Summit Health Medical AssistantThe Summit Health Medical Assistant (MA) is a multi-skilled health professional who works collaboratively on a dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide a wide range of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places an emphasis on quality of care and customer service. Under the direction of the Primary Care Provider, Clinical Practice Manager and Office Supervisor, the MA participates in team-based care by assisting with structuring the patient flow, providing direct and in-direct patient care, assisting with procedures and clerical duties. He/She will add value to care team through coordinated, efficient, and effective collaboration with patient, family and care team. Escorts patient into the room. Cleans examination room when exam is complete.Maintains efficient patient flow.Monitors Providers schedule for additions/cancellationsProperly utilizes Athena to alert Provider when patient readyEnsures proper preparation for patient visit. Prepares pertinent information needed for patient visit.Chart Prep: Prepare patient visit in advancePerform patient outreach to obtain vaccine records and imaging resultsQueue up orders as appropriate for visitReview outstanding orders/referralsCommunicates & provides care consistent with age, cultural, spiritual and developmental needs of the patient.Answers the telephone in an appropriate manner. Directs calls and/or takes accurate messages.Perform Patient check-in/check-out when applicableSchedule's appointments accurately and appropriately according to departmental guidelines.Consistently and accurately stocks examination rooms with all necessary supplies.Assists in ordering and maintaining of all supplies as assigned.Reconciles encounters daily and accurately, according to policy guidelines.Effectively communicates problems, concerns, or issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager appropriately and promptly.Understands and performs within scope of practice.Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required. Documents appropriately in EHR.Reviews and updates medication list and accurately documents known allergies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Demonstrates an understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures.Accurately documents allergies in EHR.Accurately documents family, medical, social historyPerforms medication reconciliationPerforms preventative screenings (PHQ2/9, STEADI Falls Risk, CAGE screenings)Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHRMaintains Provider Staff Clinical InboxAppropriately enters orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.Appropriately adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.Maintains proficiency with department specific equipment, troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptlyFacilitates transition of care to UCC/HospitalDemonstrates flexibility with various work schedules and office locations.Administers approved vaccinationsPerforms point of care testing including but not limited to: Urine Dips/pregnancy, Hemocue, nasal swabs for flu/covid, throat culturesPerforms phlebotomy as applicableAll other duties as assignedPerform patient outreach: AWV's, Gardasil/Pneumonia, Chronic Care VisitsActively participate in pilot programsPhysical Job Requirements:Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.Physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place.Dexterity of hands and fingers.Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).Environmental Risks:Allergens: dust, mold and/or pollenCombative Patients / VisitorsEducation, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:High School Graduate/GED / Equivalent Work or Vocational / Technical School / Diploma, required. Associate Degree's preferred.0-1 year related work experience, required. 2-4 years related work experience, preferred.Medical Assistant certification, requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days of hire, requiredAbility to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, requiredAbility to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, requiredBasic proficiency in computer use, requiredAbility to commute to satellite offices as needed, requiredTravel:Travel to satellite locations as neededPay Range: $22.02 - $27.07 HourlyThe provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
