This role is designed for a practical safety professional who enjoys working with crews, supervisors, and project teams in the field. Role Summary The Safety Coordinator provides day-to-day safety leadership for the Surprise branch and its Arizona jobsites. This position exists to help employees go home safe, keep projects moving, and ensure work is performed in line with company expectations, customer requirements, and applicable safety regulations. The successful candidate will maintain a visible field presence, coach employees and supervisors, identify hazards, deliver training, investigate incidents, and follow corrective actions through completion. Key Responsibilities Inspect jobsites, equipment, tools, vehicles, ladders, mobile elevating work platforms, forklifts, fall-protection systems, and other work areas to identify hazards and verify safe practices. Coach employees, foremen, supervisors, and managers on practical ways to control hazards and follow company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Lead safety orientations, branch safety meetings, toolbox talks, refresher training, and employee qualification programs, including CPR/AED, defensive driving, OSHA, ladders, fall protection, mobile elevating work platforms, forklifts, and related construction topics. Prepare and review job hazard analyses, job safety analyses, site-specific safety plans, pre-job planning documents, and project mobilization requirements. Investigate injuries, near misses, property damage, and other incidents; identify contributing causes; communicate findings; and track corrective actions to completion. Maintain accurate training records, inspection reports, incident files, drug and alcohol testing documentation, corrective-action logs, and other digital safety records using Microsoft Office and company systems. Communicate serious hazards and unresolved safety concerns promptly to branch and corporate leadership, and support consistent compliance with OSHA, state requirements, customer rules, and company standards. Time will be split between 60% in the field and 40% in the office. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety; (Construction experience is strongly preferred.) Working knowledge of OSHA construction requirements and the ability to recognize common hazards involving ladders, mobile elevating work platforms, forklifts, fall protection, scaffolding, material handling, and active construction work. Experience conducting safety inspections, delivering employee training, investigating incidents, completing hazard assessments, and documenting corrective actions. Strong communication and public-speaking skills, including the ability to explain safety expectations clearly to employees with different levels of experience. Ability to work independently, solve routine safety problems, prioritize field needs, and build cooperative relationships with employees and operations leaders. Working proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel, plus the ability to learn company-specific safety applications and digital systems. A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving requirements. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check, consistent with company policy and applicable law. Must hold, or be able to obtain based on applicable eligibility requirements, the credentials needed to support training in CPR/AED, defensive driving, and OSHA 500. The ability to qualify for OSHA 500 will be evaluated during the hiring process. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills. Experience in commercial construction, industrial insulation, scaffolding, firestop, painting, coatings, or a similar trade environment. OSHA 30-Hour Construction training and OSHA 500 or equivalent trainer experience. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED instructor credentials; Defensive Driving Instructor certification; or other recognized safety-trainer credentials. A recognized safety credential such as CHST, ASP, CSP, GSP, OHST, or a comparable credential. Familiarity with ADOSH (Arizona Division of Occupational Safety & Health), customer safety programs, ISNetworld, or similar contractor-management systems.
