Summer School 2026 - Teacher - Five (5) to Eight (8) Summer School Special Education Teachers, 12:1+1 (Grades 1-5)

Special Education Reading & Math Program (12:1+1)For students who have completed grades K-4.The student to teacher ratio is 12:1+1.Teachers will be utilizing district identified intervention resources and progress monitoring tools.Training will be provided.Dates: July 9 through August 19, 2026 (Monday-Friday)Teachers: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)Students: 8:30 am - 11:30 am (Monday - Friday)Teachers are expected to work the entire duration of the program.July 8th is a paid planning day: 8:30 am-11:30 pm.Location: JAProgram DescriptionThe Fairport Summer Program will consist of 1/2 day instructional periods running from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Each instructional group will consist of approximately twelve (12) students. The student to teacher ratio of the program is 12:1+1. Special Education teachers will be utilizing intervention strategies with groups of 4-5 students within a Special Class model. Attempts will be made to assign teachers as either math instructors or reading instructors.* Teachers will use the district identified resources, as well progress monitoring to monitor and adjust their instruction.Teachers should indicate their preference in teaching either math or reading but applicants should be willing to teach either content area.Teachers are expected to work the entire duration of the program.Teachers will report to the Summer School Principal and Special Education Coordinator and receive walk through feedback.RequirementsNYS Special Education Certification. NYS Certification in Reading/Literacy preferred. Individuals with other appropriate certification(s) and those who are currently in a graduate program leading to Literacy certification will also be considered.Experience with consistently implementing interventions.Knowledge of and methods for supporting literacy and math development for struggling learners.Knowledge in the use of progress monitoring tools.Expertise in using literacy assessment to focus instruction.Evidence of professional growth in application of reading, writing and math instruction based on current research.Expertise in differentiation of instruction.Expertise in classroom managementSalary: $30/hour
