Position Overview
Join the Modus Advanced team as a Quality Engineer and become the guardian of precision in manufacturing processes where failure is not an option. Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems Management
Execute and maintain process audits across all manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards
Conduct product audits at critical production stages to verify conformance to customer specifications
Support dimensional lab operations including calibration management and measurement system analysis
Audit quality functions to ensure proper execution of inspection protocols and documentation requirements
Review new work order routings for quality checkpoints and inspection requirements
Develop and maintain quality reporting metrics that provide clear visibility into manufacturing performance
Manage contract quality requirements review process for new programs and customer specifications
Problem Solving and Corrective Action
Lead Material Review Boards for customer returns, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions for nonconformances
Drive internal corrective action processes to address quality issues systematically
Assist manufacturing and engineering teams with effective corrective action identification and implementation
Apply problem-solving tools including Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma methodologies, Value Stream Mapping, and CAPA processes
Support engineering team in design reviews and new program launches with quality planning expertise
Process Development and Documentation
Develop comprehensive work instructions and process procedures that ensure repeatable quality outcomes
Create and maintain advanced quality planning tools including FMEAs and control plans
Support dimensional inspection processes with clear procedures and measurement protocols
Document quality systems and procedures to meet QMS requirements
Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on quality data analysis
Dimensional Inspection and Metrology
Support dimensional inspection operations using precision hand tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of measurement equipment
Interpret engineering drawings to establish appropriate inspection criteria
Develop inspection plans for complex geometries and tight tolerance requirements
Train manufacturing personnel on proper measurement techniques and equipment usage
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering teams on design reviews to ensure manufacturability and inspectability
Work closely with manufacturing to implement process improvements and quality controls
Communicate quality requirements and concerns across all levels of the organization
Engage with customers on quality matters, including nonconformance investigations and corrective actions
Facilitate collaboration between departments to drive quality improvements
Required QualificationsEducation and Experience
Must be a US Citizen
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline) strongly preferred
Candidates with extensive quality engineering experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Minimum 1 year of Quality Engineer experience, or 5+ years as Quality Supervisor with demonstrated technical expertise
Experience in precision manufacturing environment highly preferred
Background in aerospace, defense, or medical device industries a strong plus
Technical Skills
Proficiency with problem-solving methodologies including Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and CAPA
Functional understanding of advanced quality planning tools including FMEA and control plans
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T callouts
Demonstrated knowledge of dimensional inspection techniques using precision hand tools
Experience with CMM programming and operation
Familiarity with Zeiss CMM, Calipso, and Inspection Manager software a significant plus
Proficiency with statistical process control and quality metrics analysis
Experience conducting internal audits in AS9100 or ISO 9001 environments a plus
Industry Knowledge
Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management system requirements
Understanding of aerospace, defense, or medical device quality standards and regulations
Experience with customer-specific quality requirements and supplier quality expectations
Knowledge of measurement systems analysis and calibration management
Familiarity with material traceability and controlled substance handling requirements

Manual dexterity for operating measurement equipment and handling precision components
