This role is focused on firewall engineering, policy design, and implementation across a complex, large-scale enterprise environment. The position plays a key role in securing infrastructure that supports high-volume operations, including supply chain and multi-site deployments. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable executing time-sensitive changes during off-hours project windows.Job DescriptionThe Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting firewall configurations and network security policies in a production environment. This role includes hands-on execution of firewall changes tied to project-based deployments, often occurring during evenings and weekends to minimize business disruption. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and efficient implementation of network changes.Key responsibilities include:Configure and manage firewall technologies, including Check Point and other enterprise platformsDesign, implement, and modify firewall policies (rule creation, NAT, segmentation, and access controls)Execute firewall changes during network cutovers, migrations, and deployments, including testing and validationSupport network firewall policy operations and ensure compliance with security standardsAdminister and troubleshoot Linux systems (Ubuntu), including network configurationCollaborate with network, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver secure solutionsServe as the primary firewall resource during deployments, including real-time troubleshooting and decision-makingSupport technology implementation programs and contribute to ongoing security improvementsQualificationsRequired Qualifications:5+ years of hands-on experience supporting and engineering network firewalls in production environmentsStrong experience configuring Check Point firewalls and managing firewall policiesProven ability to design, implement, and maintain firewall rules, NAT, segmentation, and access controlsExperience across multiple firewall platforms, including Check Point and open-source technologies (e.g., iptables, nftables)Experience executing firewall changes during network cutovers, migrations, or site deploymentsProficiency with Ubuntu Linux server administration, including system management and network troubleshootingAbility to independently plan and execute firewall changes with minimal oversightExperience working in cross-functional environments to support network security initiativesWillingness and ability to work evening and weekend shifts tied to project delivery schedulesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)Experience supporting firewall implementations in supply chain, distribution, or multi-site environmentsFamiliarity with change management processes in high-availability environmentsExperience supporting after-hours or weekend deployment activitiesStrong coordination skills when working with distributed teams during implementation windowsBenefitsDahl Consulting is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees that will allow you to choose the best coverage to meet your family's needs.
