Job RequirementsUnit DescriptionSpartanburg Medical Center is a Baby-Friendly acute care hospital with a Level III NICU and an OB Laborist program. Our prestigious Labor and Delivery unit is One of the 5 Level III perinatal centers in our region, delivering roughly 250 babies per month. We have 6 Triage beds, 14 LDRs with the potential for 16. This team of dedicated professionals is defined by teamwork and a passion for the patients they serve.Position SummaryThe Acute Care Registered Nurse (RN) provides inpatient nursing care to patients in compliance with the SC Nurse Practice Act and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The RN demonstrates clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices and research in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The RN demonstrates thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, clinical pathways/care maps, team dynamics, hospital systems, and serves as a resource for support associates. The RN will collaborate with leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System's culture, Mission, Vision, and Values. Associates are encouraged to engage and support Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System's involvement in the communities we serve.Minimum RequirementsEducation* Graduate of an approved / accredited School of NursingExperience* Novice to expert nurseLicense/Registration/Certifications* Current RN licensure in the State of South Carolina or Compact State* BLS - may secure certification post-hirePreferred RequirementsPreferred Education* N/APreferred Experience* One Year of Recent RN experience within the past 5 yearsPreferred License/Registration/Certifications* N/ACore Job ResponsibilitiesBasic computer skillsDemonstrates competency utilizing electronic health recordDocuments all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient's progress or any change in the patient's conditionAdheres to system required standards of behaviorAdheres to proper chain of commandMeets continuing education requirements, demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with clinical expectations of regulatory agency requirements (DNV, DHEC, CMS)Effectively communicates with patients, families, providers, and hospital associatesKnowledgeable in use of and response to Facility Alert, Medical Alert, Medical Emergency SystemsDevelops, implements, evaluates, and revises plan of care based on physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs of the patient/familyProvides a safe patient care environmentCollaborates with patient, families, and other members of the health care team to determine patient priorities, treatmentsCoordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching activitiesInitiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcomeSeeks necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomesResponsible for demonstrating competencies for new equipment, procedures, and annual competency validationProvides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staffSuccessfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs and annual competenciesFormulates a plan for personal professional growthRecommends the need to develop or revise policies and proceduresServes on unit-based committees and as assignedPrioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patientsCritically assesses assigned patients' medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician's orders, obtains nursing history, performs physical assessment, evaluates diagnostic data, and interviews patient and family to determine patient needsAbility to properly assess and prioritize multiple patients according to the severity of illness, injury, and/or needsAble to assess, critically think, and provide quality patient care inherent to the fast-paced, dynamic environmentProfessionally interact and communicate with patients from all age groups, diverse backgrounds, and varying educational levels.
