Trust & Estates Paralegal

von Briesen & Roper, s.c., is seeking a highly motivated, detail-orientated, and experienced Paralegal to join our Trust & Estates team in our Milwaukee office. This position requires excellent client service and communication skills, high-level organization skills and the ability to manage multiple complex cases efficiently.The primary responsibilities for this role include:Probate Administration: Handle all aspects of opening and closing probate proceedings, including preparing and filing court petitions, inventories, accountings, and related documents.Trust Administration: Assist with post-death trust administration, including trust funding, asset valuation, and distributions to beneficiaries.Asset Management: Marshall assets, contact financial institutions, prepare property deeds, and prepare asset summaries for tax reporting.Tax Preparation: Assist with the preparation of federal and state estate tax returns, individual and fiduciary income tax returns, and gift tax returns.Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, trustees, and financial advisors regarding case status and document requests.Tax Research: Conduct research on tax laws.File Management: Maintain organized and detailed electronic case files and manage attorney deadlines.QualificationsQualified candidates will have a minimum of 3–5 years of dedicated experience in trust and estate administration and/or planning, or minimum of 3-5 years of experience in or tax return preparation. A Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. An accounting degree or certificate is a plus.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of probate court procedures, tax filings, and fiduciary accounting.
