What Youll Do: The Senior Marine Composite Specialist is responsible for executing a wide range of composite fabrication and repair tasks ranging from minor cosmetic fixes to significant structural projects within our service area to the highest possible standardsusing the best quality materials available. Your role will include all the necessary tasks required to complete these jobs including customer communications, inspections, planning, budgeting, execution, follow-up, and project analysis. Your Key Duties Include: Fabrication: Perform all aspects of custom composite fabrication on parts both small and large, on vessels ranging in size from 15 - 130 feet. You'll aid in the construction processes of plugs, molds, and layups. Repairs and Collaboration: Cosmetic and structural,youll work alongside systems, carpenter, and coatings specialists to identify root causes, plan repair strategies, and perform job functions wherever composite materials exist in a wide range of environments with appropriate tools such as saws, grinders, scrapers, sanders, and polishers. Material Selection: Youll research structural requirements, select appropriate laminates and resin materials, prescribe lamination and coating strategies and techniques, fabricate, test, install, and finish the parts. Mobile Services:Travel to marinas and private slips within a service range of approximately 30 minutes. Client Relations:Communicate directly with customers to understand the scope, communicate progress, and ensure overwhelming satisfaction. Profitability & Growth:Build strong client relationships where projects are completed early and under budget. As a result, growth is achieved through increased customer count and job size. Improvement initiatives are daily expectations. Reporting & Analysis: Complete service reports and forms accurately and promptly; analyze results and apply lessons learned. Training: Participate in talent acquisition and training; cross-training wherever applicable. Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain and oversee clean and safe machinery and work areas, ensuring teammates adhere to all safety and environmental regulations. Qualifications: You have formal vocational training or equivalent, an expert eye for quality and precision, and 3-4 years (or more) of experience - portfolios are a bonus! Experience with and an understanding of structural mechanics of materials like polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins, laminating materials like E-Glass, S-Glass, Mat, Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, and Hybrids, core materials like balsa, PVC Foams, Honeycombs, and Coosa. Proficient with a wide range of laminating techniques including spraying, chopper guns, hand layups, vacuum infusion, and prepreg materials. Skilled with gelcoat repairs, color matching, sanding, and polishing to obtain OEM-level finishes. Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push, and pull in small, tight spaces, and heights in uncomfortable conditions on ladders and scaffolds regularly where elements such as heat, cold, dirt, dust, noise, and chemical fumes are present. Sometimes in large amounts. Proper PPE and safety equipment provided. Strong time management and organizational skills. Excellent team player with strong communication skills. Basic computer skills. High School Diploma or GED (minimum) Certification from accredited manufacturers' schools is a plus. You might have some lofting, templating, CAD/CAM, or composite tooling experience in the automotive, and aerospace industries! All composite experience is encouraged to apply.
