At Viking Masek we focus on innovation and integration, delivering complete packaging automation solutions to optimize production liens worldwide.Job DescriptionThe Field Service Technician I provides foundational service and technical support for Viking Masek packaging machinery, including VFFS systems, multi-lane stick pack machines, and rotary filling equipment. This entry-level role focuses on developing strong technical skills, supporting senior technicians with complex tasks, and delivering exceptional customer experience.In addition to on-site activities, this role involves a rotating on-call afterhours remote-support schedule to assist customers with troubleshooting and basic technical questions. This is expected to be 2 - 3 weeks annually performed during the hours of 6pm-10pm weekdays with full-time availability on weekends.Key Role Areas (KRA) Customer Service and Support Technical Expertise and Maintenance Collaboration and Communication Reporting and Documentation Continuous Improvement and ComplianceJob Duties & ResponsibilitiesKRA 1 – Customer Service & SupportDeliver professional, courteous service and hands-on training to customers. Respond to customer inquiries, troubleshooting requests, service alerts, and warranty-related questions. Build and maintain positive customer relationships during onsite visits and remote interactions. Understand customer needs and provide appropriate recommendations or briefings. KRA 2 – Technical Expertise & MaintenanceDevelop and maintain strong working knowledge of Viking Masek equipment and industry standards. Perform on-site installations, repairs, routine maintenance, and testing tasks. Read and interpret electrical schematics and perform basic electrical troubleshooting. Maintain accurate technical, operational, and equipment documentation. KRA 3 – Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with Project Managers, Senior Technicians, and cross-functional teams to support project execution. Communicate clearly and effectively with production, service, and internal support teams. Share technical insights and learnings to support team-wide knowledge growth. Collaborate with internal departments to support smooth project and service workflows. KRA 4 – Reporting & DocumentationUse ERP tools to create service reports, track call logs, and support customer experience initiatives. Complete detailed, accurate service and installation reports in a timely manner. Record service actions, parts usage, equipment settings, and outcomes using standardized forms, logs, and documentation systems. KRA 5 – Continuous Improvement & ComplianceFollow all company field procedures, safety requirements, and operational protocols. Participate in ongoing training to build technical capabilities and stay current with new technologies. Contribute ideas and feedback that support process improvement and team efficiency. Support the standardization of service procedures to ensure quality and consistency. QualificationsValid driver’s license with no major violations within the last 3 years. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of relevant experience (mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related technical role). General computer proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Basic electrical troubleshooting competence. Mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn complex machinery. Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to travel frequently for field assignments. Preferred (Value-Added)Technical diploma or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or industrial technology. Experience working with packaging machinery or automated equipment. Familiarity with ERP systems or service-reporting tools. Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, or industrial controls.
