Data Cable Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Cable Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various telecommunications and data cabling systems across diverse environments. Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring in commercial and industrial settings
Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to ensure high-speed data transmission
Troubleshoot and repair network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, VoIP systems, and telecommunication hardware using diagnostic tools
Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations and repairs
Conduct network wiring, cable termination, and equipment troubleshooting to maintain system integrity
Utilize telecommunications testing equipment including ohmmeters, RF testers, and diagnostic tools for system verification
Support the installation of CCTV cameras, access control systems, and other communication systems while adhering to safety standards
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Data Cable Technician or Service Technician with a strong background in telecommunications or IT infrastructure
Knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, and network installation procedures
Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques, fiber optic systems installation, and testing methods
Hands-on experience with telephony systems such as Avaya or similar VoIP platforms
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment safely and effectively
Understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, NEC standards for low-voltage wiring, and structured cabling best practices
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred; willingness to travel for field service assignments
