Automation Engineer (DevOps/Platform)
We’re seeking an Automation Engineer to help ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of enterprise server, storage, and application environments. This role blends day-to-day operational support with project-based automation work, focusing on reducing manual effort, improving observability, and strengthening system stability. You’ll collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams while supporting incident response, platform upgrades, and compliance initiatives.What You’ll Do:Automation & ReliabilityDesign, build, and maintain automation using Ansible, REST APIs, and scripting to streamline monitoring, configuration changes, access management, and routine maintenanceImprove system reliability and operational efficiency through repeatable, scalable automation workflowsEnhance monitoring, alerting, and observability across infrastructure and application platformsIncident & Outage SupportSupport production incidents by troubleshooting automation, validating monitoring data, and deploying quick fixes or workaroundsPartner with NOC and application teams to restore services quickly and prevent recurring issues through root-cause analysisPlatform Maintenance & UpgradesSupport patching, upgrades, and migrations for automation platforms and supporting infrastructure, including Ansible Automation Platform, Red Hat OpenShift, RHEL, and related toolingCoordinate with vendors and internal teams to deliver secure, reliable platform updatesCross-Team CollaborationWork closely with Application, Security, IAM, Mainframe, and Infrastructure teams to deliver safe, compliant automation solutionsProvide guidance and troubleshooting support to teams adopting automation practicesDocumentation & Knowledge SharingDevelop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, templates, and technical documentation to ensure automation is repeatable, auditable, and easy to supportCapture lessons learned and recommend process improvementsMentor and share knowledge with team members to support ongoing growthSecurity, Compliance & AuditsEnsure automation aligns with security standards, RBAC controls, and audit requirementsSupport audit activities, evidence collection, and remediation efforts as neededRequired Qualifications (Non‑Negotiables):Experience with Kubernetes / containerized environmentsExperience with monitoring toolsSplunkREST APIsScripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Ansible)GitExposure to or experience with AI-driven tools or automationPreferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:Red Hat OpenShiftRed Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)Java or COBOLDatadogWhatsUp Gold (WUG)Azure and/or AWSJira
