Are you a seasoned Auto Repair Refinisher/Painter with a meticulous approach to your craft and a passion for elevating vehicles to a pristine finish? Our well-established auto collision repair facility in Clovis, CA, is in search of an adept individual to lead our refinishing and painting team, specifically with expertise in paint systems and high-end refinishing techniques. Qualifications: Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in high-end automotive refinishing and painting. Surface Preparation: Proficient in meticulously preparing vehicles for paint, ensuring surfaces are flawlessly primed, sanded, and masked. Color Mastery: Preferred skilled in color mixing and tinting to achieve precise color matches and seamless transitions. Paint Application: Proven track record of applying paint using advanced spray techniques, achieving impeccable finishes. Leadership: Ability to lead a team, assign tasks effectively, and ensure uncompromising quality in output. Problem-Solving: Expertise in identifying and resolving challenges related to paint application and finish. Team Player: Collaborative mindset, fostering a harmonious and motivated work environment. Driver's License: Must hold a valid driver's license for potential vehicle transportation. Clean Driving Record: No DUI convictions within the last 5 years. Responsibilities: Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to the refinishing and painting team, driving excellence in performance. BASF Mastery: Utilize your deep understanding of BASF paint systems to create flawless color matches and finishes. Color Perfection: Skillfully mix and tint colors to exact specifications, ensuring seamless integration with existing finishes. The Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing repaired vehicles for refinishing and assisting Paint Technicians’ with their work. Duties include sanding, masking, priming vehicle parts, and keeping Paint Technicians aware of work progress. Must adhere to safety/OSHA guidelines and use required safety protection. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Paint Technician by preparing vehicles and parts for painting using proper techniques, equipment, and materials. Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application. Apply paper and masking tape to protect non-painted surfaces (windows, bumpers, trim, etc.). May assist Paint Technician with blending as needed. Works with the paint team to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery. Maintain all tools and equipment, and keep workspace clean and organized. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment. Ensure the paint area (prep station, paint booth, etc.) and paint mix/storage rooms are clean and all refinish products are stored as directed. May help with general maintenance of paint booths. Help with reassembly of vehicle – replace final moldings, trim and detail pieces. Utilize all required safety equipment and follow proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA safety guidelines. Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye, and skin protectors), and handle and dispose of hazardous waste properly. Attend daily release meetings. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Prior automotive painting and refinishing process experience is required. Prior paint-prep experience preferred – sanding, masking, prepping, and blending. High School diploma/GED preferred. Collision tech graduate preferred. I-CAR or ASE refinishing certification is preferred. Knowledge of auto manufacturers’ repair/refinishing processes. Ability to receive direction and work well with others. Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Must be able to work the following days and hours: Monday – Friday (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., edit as necessary) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential physical requirements include: Ability to stoop, bend and kneel, squat, kneel, and pull Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping Carry and lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) Standing, sitting, and walking Performing repetitive motions Visual acuity for color matching Surface Excellence: Lead by example in preparing vehicle surfaces with precision and attention to detail. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper care and maintenance of painting equipment for optimal performance. Quality Assurance: Maintain strict adherence to quality standards, conducting thorough inspections to ensure flawless finishes. Compliance: Uphold safety protocols and industry regulations throughout the painting process.
