Its work focuses on quality, service, integrity, professionalism, and innovative aerospace technologies.About the JobMid-Continent Instruments and Avionics is seeking a Software Engineer to provide engineering and technical support in the evaluation and testing of existing and emerging technologies, systems, and capabilities.The role focuses on designing avionics, power electronics, and battery systems, with particular emphasis on Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) and Inertial Navigation Systems (INS). The engineer will work with modern sensor technologies and develop software-defined capabilities for aerospace products.The position includes embedded software development, hardware interaction, sensor characterization and calibration, manufacturing and verification support, and testing of safety-critical products.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement embedded C software for bare-metal, microcontroller-based systems.Develop optional VHDL firmware for FPGA-based systems.Architect and implement AHRS and INS products using MEMS, FOG, and other commercially available sensor technologies.Support the evaluation and testing of existing and emerging aerospace technologies.Develop tools supporting manufacturing, calibration, and verification of safety-critical products.Characterize and calibrate inertial sensor devices.Work directly with target hardware and laboratory equipment for debugging and analysis.Build and troubleshoot hardware systems, including basic soldering and test equipment operation.Prototype and execute test programs to verify compliance with performance, regulatory, and quality requirements.Contribute to products involving cockpit displays, instruments, navigation references, data conversion and storage, battery management, power conversion, and in-seat power solutions.Develop innovative software-defined functionality and technical solutions.Support engineering activities in both office and test laboratory environments.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.10+ years of experience designing embedded software in the United States.5+ years of experience as a principal designer for AHRS and INS solutions.5+ years of experience characterizing and calibrating inertial sensor devices.Proficiency in the C programming language.Ability to work directly with target hardware and laboratory equipment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.Strong attention to detail.Organized, focused, and results-oriented approach.Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and prioritization skills.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with C#, C++, or Python for PC application software.Experience with VHDL.Experience designing safety-critical software using RTCA DO-178, DO-254, or similar processes.Experience designing or troubleshooting PCB system hardware.Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT).Skills RequirementsEmbedded Software DevelopmentC ProgrammingAHRSINSInertial Sensor CharacterizationSensor CalibrationMEMSFOGMicrocontroller-Based SystemsFPGAVHDLAvionicsSafety-Critical SoftwareRTCA DO-178DO-254PCB HardwareHardware DebuggingTest EquipmentManufacturing & Verification ToolsDFM & DFTTechnical Problem SolvingSystems TestingCompensation & Benefits$100,000–$150,000 annual salaryAbove-market payComprehensive benefits packageRemote work arrangementCareer development opportunitiesWork-life balance-focused environmentEmployee appreciation events and wellness initiativesProfessional, clean, climate-controlled work environmentEqual OpportunityThe provided source does not include a specific Equal Opportunity Employer statement for Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics.
